I turned this on 30 minutes in and was like is this some vampire family drama.

I know. Selma Blair seemed really depressed right from the get go too. Did I miss something?

Yes - they were still getting over the death of their daughter.

That is simply their pigment and there is nothing wrong with being any skin color even pale. I don't understand why that is considered such a pejorative. Who cares as long as the actors and actresses deliver a good performance?

I think he meant the color of the film, not the people in it. ;)
