Lack of discussion on his possibe murder(s)

The deliberately stagnant camera rendered much of the sexual scenes to be on the 'periphery' of what's really going on.

Such was the case with the attack on the Noura. The gasping scene at the end suggested that the attack wasn't fatal, but this seems to be an under discussed plot point on this board. Perhaps there's an unspoken agreement here that he didn't kill her, but simply beat her?

Also, Noura says, "I called her", which prompted the attack. Who is she referring to?

Regards the plea to stay with Marianne, was it just me that felt his internal rage could've boiled over to a double homicide? It was foreshadowed to my mind, but just left there in the ether.

This ambiguity with regards his potential murders muted some of the impact for me. I see from an interview linked on this board that Corbet discusses how the narrative intention is to chart a character's descent into a 'urban decay', but the lack of clarity into how that manifests in terms of the physical harm he causes leaves the film grasping at resonance.
