Why isn't Marcus Luttrell in this?

I haven't seen the documentary yet (it won't be released until this week), but I'm curious as to why Marcus Luttrell isn't listed as one of the "cast" members participating in this film. Murph played such a huge role in Marcus' book.

I'm looking forward to seeing this documentary and learning more about this hero.

i was thinking the same thing, at the end of it it does say thank you to Marcus for telling Murph's story so im not sure.

Good question. But I suspect that it was because the Murph documentary conflicted with the work Luttrell was doing with Lone Survivor. Luttrell was basically involved in literally every step of the process of creating Lone Survivor.

The Murph documentary was inspiring to watch. The guy exemplifies what all young men and women initially want to be. Very few achieve the level.

I highly recommend this documentary.

Well, for one thing, this is about Lt. Murphy viewed by his family and friends, not his military colleagues.

The only military personnel in the entire movie are a USN helicopter pilot that was on casualty duty (informing the family that he was missing and then KIA) and a brief appearance from a commanding officer.

Further, Murphy was an officer, Luttrell was enlisted. As closely as they may have worked together, the USN and most militaries forbid fraternization between officers and enlisted. They probably didn't really know each other very well outside their work in the teams.
