Wasnt he a pirate again after the last one??

There's a theory floating around that he's dressed as a Privateer again in an attempt to hide from Salazar -- since Salazar is hunting Pirates, after all.
This would explain the great "oh s***" face that he has in the new trailer when Salazar jumps behind him.

reply

Oh okay. Yeah Privateer thats the word I was looking for.

Barbossa look younger than previous films. Flashback or prequel scene? Maybe how he became a pirate, Salazar could have spared his life?

reply

He looks about the same age as he did in On Stranger Tides, to be perfectly honest with you. (And actually looks less skin diseased, in my opinion). I don't think it's a flashback, especially considering he's on the Queen Anne's Revenge for most of what the trailer shows us.

reply

@Jackolyn_Sparrow
Well Barbossa is obviously going to be older in Dead Men Tell No Tales then he was in On Stranger Tides, because Dead Men Tell No Tales is a sequel to On Stranger Tides. It's not a prequel to it.

reply

He will obviously be older, yes. I never said he was going to be younger, I'm speaking purely visually here he as just looks a lot better than he did in On Stranger Tides. All that means is they got a competent makeup artist to do his face this time around unlike in OST.

reply

Less skin diseased? Yes he is; but wouldn't that refer to him being a little younger for that time period, not older. Hence the prequel soft reboot as discussed in earlier posts quoting Orlando Bloom?

reply

No hes older.

Huh?
When I saw him in the new trailer, I was like: "Ahh, he's pretty old now..."

I was thinking someone that age could not keep up with a pirates life anymore, I love Barbossa but it's becoming more and more unbelievable maybe he should retire soon? Haha

reply

Maybe he'll take Will's place on the Flying Dutchman.

reply

That means Will will be killed? I think it's a good idea of Barbossa taking his place!

reply

I don't know if Will has to "died", even though he technically is dead already. I think if Tia Dalma or Poseidon chose to release Will they could, but someone would still have to take his place.

reply

His heart has been cut out though, I don't think it could be put back in but u guess the writers could make something up to keep him alive. But I think if Tia Dalma loved Davy Jones and she didn't release him she won't release Will because he was partially involved in her imprisonment in human form

reply

Tia Dalma/Calypso did love Davy Jones, but as she herself said, it was her nature to be "unpredictable". I'm not sure how long Davy Jones was the captain of the Flying Dutchman, but it was more than 10 and less than 20, if I remember right.

She told Davy Jones "I will be free, and when I am, I will give you my heart, and we will be together always... but if only you had a heart to give." She meant more that his heart had become corrupt not that it was in the box. It was when she learned later from Will that Davy Jones was the one who made her a prisoner in human form that she lost it.

I thought I remember Tia Dalma telling Davy Jones that she might have be waiting for him if he had come back after another 10 years, but I can't find it anywhere.

reply

Well i doubt Will will die because this movie most likely does NOT take place over 10 years after at worlds end. Remember the after credits scene 10 years later? Elizabeth was waiting for him with his kid thus breaking the curse

reply

So Will didn't go back to her?

reply

I could be wrong

reply

The curse wasn't broken, Will could visit land once every ten years!

reply

Dude, you should've paid attention a bit more. The breaking of the Trident of Poseidon removed all curses from the world, hence Will wasn't bound to the Dutchman anymore. So the curse was indeed broken at the end of the movie.

reply

Yeah Will is back with Elizabeth and if you saw the end credit sequence, then you know who is coming back on the Dutchman now.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/Ifd_yV1ZFNg

reply

Hardly since he had a wooden leg in the trailer

reply

The look doesn't suit him. I want Captain Barbarossa back

reply

I think he looks really good in that outfit, he suits it. I think he's wearing it just because it's kind of like a parody of the people who actually dress like that and no other pirate dresses like that so he can easily be identified as the infamous Captain Barbossa of the Queen Anne's Revenge

reply

Why not, pray tell?

Whatever you are, be a good one.

reply

True
