Were the ratings really so bad that they needed to end the show after only five episodes?

I really want to see this show come back, I'm so sick of seeing all this gold digger crap every time I flip to Discovery. Brewmasters is among the very few Discovery shows released in the past few years that I actually loved, I really wish they would do another season with more breweries.

Ratings weren't super high, but the primary reason for the cancellation was essentially an issue with advertisers on the network and the content of this show. It got shuffled around in their schedule and had limited airings in a likely attempt to burn off episodes and kill the show (so they could blame "low ratings")

The closest thing you can watch is Dogfish produced short YouTube clips that are quite similar in tone to the show:

seen it on the velocity channel recently; don't know if new episodes are on the horizon.
