Great characters, but offensively superficial + devoid of brains

I knew of the Monster High line since over a year ago when I found the toys at Amazon. They were good looking characters but as toys they were bad and fell apart easy so they could not be played with. Then I found they were webasodes and now a TV show since last year, it is premiered now on Disney Channel. I've seen the online episodes on youtube, I've even seen the creators video.

The driving force because this brand line is the artistically aesthetically appealing characters. Beyond that, I don't see any redeemable qualities. The characters talk like airheads, are the stereotypical highschool football cheerleaders but swapped to look like skinny monsters. The characters are twigs in crazy heels and micro mini-skirts. My niece's 5 year old sister got 4 of the figures for Christmas.

Lines like, Like Oh my God, totally, I'm so over it! Oh wow I love that magazine, I just love Justin! "Don't be a hater sis, love is magical!"

It's just so ridiculously awful. The webisodes are bad, and the tv show is horridly offensive, but bothers me because they use Gothic Monsters who would never act like that. Also offensive to Goth scene, punks (my roots), or classic monster movie fans. The theme even sounds like typical mainstream pop. The kind where the music is made by everyone except the name on the cover who sings the songs. Who writes this no brain garbage? This could have been a great monster based character show with redeeming values but instead it's more superficial brainless fluff for kids stuck to the TV to emulate.

EDIT I'm glad some of the youtube commentators realize this.

I don't care for shows like these. Its not all about popularity. And girls aren't all about shoes, fashion, boys, and rock stars. These aren't really girls, they are monsters, and that's a fact.

Wow, i can't believe they fit this much anti-intellectualism into a single show. Make sure your daughters know what's important! appearance, popularity, and *beep* music. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic is a much better alternative.

This concept would have worked better without so much airheadedness!

You really don't know anything about this series do you, having only seen a special composed of introductory webisodes from the start of season one. There have only been three CN aired specials, one DVD, and three seasons of webisodes. There is no TV series. The main thrust of the series is about acceptance and understanding. The characters focus upon common in-universe teen themes, but this is what alot of real teens do as well. They also stick together and up for each other through thick and thin, dealing with predjudice, bullying, peer pressure, the enviroment, parental pressure, and other timely issues, as well as have episodes of a lighter fare. In the future actually watch a series and learn something about it before casting judgement.
