6.2...Brilliant film

Rating is funny and it proves again that the average viewer is moron. It was surprisingly good, great cinematography, editing and sound (use of silence, music...) and it was entertaining at the same time. Wow.

I completely agree. At the very least it should have gotten a 7.0 in my opinion. Especially seeing the scores some of these other crap movies got.

Who cares what other people give it. As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters.

you're right

I gave it a 5.

The writing, story and editing was not what I'd call good and I work in indie cinema.

I gave it a solid 3. The ending does not work at all in my opinion.

6.2 is generous imo. I gave it 5/10.

I had it at 7.... Maybe an 8. Final act dropped it to a 5. Just felt like the entire movie was a waste of time. So much great build up to be let down so hard. A shame.

The only thing I disagree with is your thoughts on the sound. The sound tech/editor (or whoever fiddled with it on the Bluray) needs to be given a slap on the side of the head. It was one of those movies where the voices are too low compared to other sounds, especially the background music. My wife and I had to crank the sound to listen to the talking, and then a moment later we're blasting out the windows of the house because the background music kicked in. I would have thought that in the 2010's that would be an issue of the past, but unfortunately it isn't. I can't think of any other Bluray/DVD in my collection that has this problem, so it really was a surprise to have happen.

Some people say "Well use CC, dummy!". But my wife and I prefer not to use CC as we typically find it distracting, especially for movies we expect are of the Horror genre, something this movie is not. Honestly, it's a big stretch to call this movie a Horror. Thriller and Crime, fine, but Horror is a very large leap for Kill List. It fits in more in the Drama genre than Horror.

I'd still give it a 6. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "brilliant", though. Over-using that word just diminishes its impact. Kill List was a good movie, but not that good. I can live with the 6.2 given by IMDB voters.
