Horrible hazy/soft-focus camera work

It was so annoying watching this movie with that hazy, smeary soft lens they shot it in. It was like there was a layer of gauze over my TV. What a dumb thing to do, it was distracting throughout the whole movie

I agree. Horrible.

It was like watching a movie through a fishtank. Do Not Want.

It was distracting, can't stand it.

Yeah, WTF, you can do one shot like this, though it's probably a bad idea, but to keep it up for the whole movie is just simulating cataracts

I think it added to the story.

I could be wrong, but I think the type of film was suppose to contrast with the underlying tone of the plot and ultimate fate of the character's lives. It was very soft, gentle, and innocent compared to the dark stories that each of the girls held. The light orbs presented in many of the shots evoked a sense of fantasy; while watching, I kept assuming that the characters were going to have some sort of "magical" night- and instead towards the end, the viewers got a glimpse of a very grim reality that haunted the girl's lives.

I found the film to be very metaphorical and paradoxical/ironic. Especially the location. When you think of a beach, you tend to also think of terms such as: freedom or free spirited-ness, calm, tranquility, serenity and surrender. All of those words were both paradoxical and metaphorical for the film. For example; as a paradox- the beach was so calm and freeing, but their lives were emotionally chaotic and consuming. As a metaphor- the beach was so calm and freeing, and at the end of the movie they found respite, and in death they were "free" of all things that enslaved them.

Anyways, that's how I interpreted it. However, I do understand that it could have been irritating to some. I didn't mind it, but to each his/her own.
