Why would he leave his address on a tile in South America?

So from watching this documentary I gathered that the last thing this Sevy guy wanted was to be confronted about being the Tiler. He even used a fake name, James Morasco, to avoid revealing his true identity. So it would make absolutely no sense for him to give his actual home address on a tile. Of course the guy did seem to be 9 buckets of crazy so maybe there doesn't need to be a reason.

it wasn't sevy he cant travel he has a health condition

Agreed, this bothered me too. Spoiled the whole movie for me, can't believe the cast/director so easily accepted that the guy must have left his own adress on a tile. Idiotic.

reply

Maybe it was a test to see if anyone would follow up on it.

reply

Interesting point. Perhaps the tile was laid much earlier on, when he wanted press exposure?

It's all fun and games until someone gets caught. Then it's larceny.

reply

That part bothered me a little bit, but the thing is...

Even though it's all theory, conjecture and circumstancial at this point, the theory behind Sevy being the main culprit (although I personally think a number of the tiles were from copy-cats once they had started to get publicity) does seem extremely logicial. The timeline provided at the end of the film fits together perfectly, and makes more sense than any other theory on the tiles or the identity of the tiler.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

reply

This single tile makes me doubt much of this documentary.

reply

I don't see how. So all of the tiles have been faked? There is no Tiler?
It's not like they are going to ask The Tiler about how his address got on the tile.

When he first laid that tile in South America it was before the internet had been created. Sevy had no idea the info on that tile would be so easily gathered later. These investigators just pulled the image off the internet. He knew that whoever found the tile and had enough interest would have to go a long way to contact him. To him it was a test tile to see if the info he laid would someday reach him. When it did he had become too much of a social introvert/hermit. I don't think this is a sad story at all. Most everyone fears death. That is the reason why Sevy spread the word. He was trying to save himself from death as well as everyone else on Earth. Yes, it is a far flung idea but an altruistic one at that. He will be remembered for a long time because of his efforts. I respect him for what accomplished.

I agree. He probably suspected others might have an idea of what he was doing in the US and maybe sneaked down to SA, for some reason, feeling safe leaving his address on a tile. Its not like any authority figures would bother going through the trouble of following up on it. Maybe someone would write him for more information.

I think once he had the idea for the tiles he could have gotten some nieces or nephews to put them down in places like in S. America.
