Why does Madea have to slap KIDS?

I've never seen any of these Madea movies, but I have seen the trailer. Why does this Grandma character have to slap kids? I don't see the humor in that. I can see the humor in slapping the adults, but not kids. There's enough of this stereotype in black culture. All these violent men being raised by these violent women?

Because the kids do not have any respect. Zero.

Clark's destiny = Superman, Lex Luthor & Lois Lane.

I got confused watching the movie with this issue. Madea would talk about raising hell in her day and Aunt Bam smokes pot. Both were raised with and endorse traditional methods of raising children and still didn't turn out any better than these kids will today. The whole thing didn't make sense to me.

because nowadays they are disrespectful, rude, lazy and need a good ass whoopin. thats whats wrong with kids today. parents aren't allowed to disipline their children. Im not say beat them to the point of abuse. If my mom didn't whoop my butt when i was a teenager and put a lil fear in me, no tellin where i would of ended up. ppl need to take care of the REAL child abusers and leave decent parents that are trying their best alone. all this damn video games and cell phones, etc. this crap is so bad for our kids. Im so glad that my children go outside and play all day and build things, using their imagination etc. My kids are happy, healthy and doing great in school. and they never utter back talk or sass off to me and i dont lay a finger on them, they just know...mama dont play.

I know I'm really late to this posting, but a friend just brought it over. I was pretty smart as a child and I didn't particularly mind the hairbrush or belt if I knew I was being willfully disobedient. This is not saying I liked it. What I thought was awful was my mother's response to discipline was the physical stuff ALL the time. Or she was severe, like throwing my address book away. Personally, I think corporal punishment is okay (1) if not severe and used often on younger kids who can't understand - like running in the street is dangerous (2) if nothing else is working. Sometimes a spanking is the only thing that gets through. Again, this would very occasionally. I do not think a very occasional spanking leads to violence or children becoming murderers or whatever. The kids in the movie were out of control and needed a rude awakening.

I kind of see the humor in it but it is probably because I simply don't like kids. But with Tyler and his movies, his characters are all the same. Disrespectful kids, abused women, older people taking shots at each other (insults back and forth with Brown and Madea and Joe). Apparently it has worked for his career so that formula isn't totally broken yet, but I do think at this point the horse is dead and is about to be beaten sort of speak.

What's even more rediculous is that fact that some parents (Like Tammy) ALLOW their kids to be disrespectful and misbehave. Madea was just showing that parents need to put their foot down

reply

Heck! By the way those two boys were acting, they NEEDED to be slapped. They have parents who don't discipline then, as a result, they became ruder and ruder.

Notice that although Madea disciplines misbehaved kids, she DOES NOT abuse them! She has their best interests at heart.
