Love how these guys still use modern stuff

If they were so liberal and anti-everything; then why use the internet, live in an apartment, wear clothing. Their arguments are all garbage. I'm totally against the police force shown in the film, but people involved with environmental organizations, i.e. PETA, need to get their head out of their ass and realize they're wrong. Hypocritical BS throughout.

Not to mention there former press team head Daniel Scarbourough ( I think that was his last name) preaches anti-capitalism, etc while enjoying the fruits of his $650,000 trust fund. ( Although, I do admit, real ELF members hate him because he incites stuff and sits back and never does anything .

Because they're imprisoned in the same system we are. It's funny to me how people with no morals or philosophy can say that people with one are hypocrites when they act against it but the nihilists and supporters of the status quo get off scot-free.

There is no place where the government is not present. Even if you're living in a cabin in the woods as a complete recluse you are still probably on gov't land. The options are quite limited and it's not like the ELF folks can't see good sides to modern life. Modern life is built on a lot of good ideas but there just happens to be a lot of bad that comes with the good.

Every form of radicalism requires an embedded amount of hypocrisy. Radical Christians have to hate and judge. Radical Muslims kill despite scriptural tenets of peace. Radical treehuggers have to use wooden pencils to write out their instructions for arson! And on and on....

Cause a person without the internet, apartment and clothing can't fight the system, or even feed himself for that matter. That would be counterproductive on their part.

I also think that those are the people government fears most... those who are against it but use her own tools to fight it. Government doesn't fear people who live in communes, pick berries and farm and have no essential tools.

And they certainly weren't using sophisticated technology either.

They're activists not Amish.

Impossible not to be hypocritical when looking for radical change within this system.
However, calling someone a hypocrite and dismissing them is missing the point.

Don't knock masturbation! It's sex with someone I love.

They never say they are anti-technology. Their concern is that the technology will get way ahead of us (genetically modified trees) and cause irreparable harm. There is genuine remorse at bombing just a regular tree farm instead of a genetically modified farm.

reply

Anti everything? Who said that? Burning down a factory that inhumanely slaughters horses or a lumber yard that is clear cutting forest, has nothing to do with wearing clothing or using the internet. I'm not saying I agree with their tactics, but your argument makes no sense.

If they think that society would be better off if we all lived in tents and ate grass all day, they should actually go out and do that. Don't live in a big city and use modern technology. They love the benefits that it will give them, but they just don't like it when other people use it.
