The 'Make a Wish' Scene

As a father of two girls, my God, that scene was a punch in the gut, I couldn't believe how choked up it made me to see that beautiful girl so happy... but not knowing if she's even alive today. Man, and we take so much for granted.

I know. Unbelievably touching... the look on that girl's face was so moving..

I got choked up as well when Kevin came over to the Father, and the Father just embraced him immediately.

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."

Me too. I'm in awe that Kevin was able to keep it together so well as he interacted with the family as Elmo. I'd be a mess.
What a good heart this man has.

reply

yes iam a female but i don't usually cry in movies mainly because i know its just a movie and its fake but this scene made me cry too. it was so touching

reply

there are many clips of elmo and kevin working with "make a wish" and the way he holds it together and stays as Elmo, is both heart breaking and heart walming

She is not alive, in the bonus footage of the DVD, it is mentioned she was buried with her Elmo. (There, now you can cry some more.)
I didn't see much of sesame street and was fairly indifferent to the muppets, and if you had asked me what Elmo's defining personality trait was I probably would have answered "I don't know...he's ticklish?" but I was floored by this movie. Elmo's (and Clash's) unconditional love is very profound, and the filmmakers did a great job presenting it to us. I'm glad the film is being held in such high regard.

I cried from then on.

I've always been a fairly cynical and pessimistic person- it's just the way I am- so to see this guy interacting with this girl and her family like this- oh God, it almost killed me, and made me seriously question the way I look at life myself. I really hope Kevin's as great a guy in real life as this film makes out.

Exactly. Boo.

reply

Regardless of what has come to light about Kevin in recent months, I do feel he was sincere in this scene.
