One major flaw

The last half of the movie becomes difficult to understand when anything's taking place. They mention a year here and there in the first half, but after awhile, I have to remember that "Labyrinth" came out in 1986, which I don't mind. But then there's literally nothing to connect us to time progressing except for Tickle Me Elmo (1996) and Jim Henson's death (1990)... which were reversed in the movie. I'm confident that those unfamiliar of when those happened figured Clash became extremely popular and then Jim Henson died. But saying he died before Clash became popular is too sad of a story, so they fudged it. That's borderline revisionist. Outside of those two events, it's hard to understand when anything happens between 1986 and 2006.

But if you're so wrapped up in the movie that you can look beyond that, then good for you.

Just like it is hard to understand how Clash now claims he never concealed being gay and yet the doc gives the impression that he was married and didn't spend enough time with his daughter. Isn't that his daughter's sweet 16 party with celebrities giving pre-recorded greetings?

Being Gay could be a reasonable sequel.

I agree with what you are saying. I was only 4 when Jim Henson died and have no memory of that but 10 when tickle me elmo was released, and I have lots of memories of that, so the reverse order was a little confusing for me.

It was a little confusing how they jumped around a lot.

I agree about the passage of time. they should have mentioned dates more often.

Ribbons and detours meant nothing to me
