SOCOM barrels

I don't know anything about guns:

Can't these barrels be bought straight from the manufacturer? Or is the problem that the manufacturer doesn't have any?

wheres the drama in that?

Don't know if there was a random shortage during filming or they needed some weird special size or something but seems like plenty of companies have them in stock at between 235-360 each now. Maybe they just don't have Google in Louisiana...

Uhm remember the show isnt filmed live. When filmed, there might havebeen a shortage. As far as manufacture having them, manufactures have to tool up to make each caliber and will manufacture them for a period of time. Then they will retool to manufacture a different caliber. If sold out, you have to wait until they come back around for the sold out barrel. Manufactures dont make every caliber all year long.......way too many different calibers.

The gun ban panic created a shortage of all things semi-auto and militaryish. The barrel shortage has eased since any manufacturer with a machine tool set-up and the programming can make them. The big shortage no is bolt carriers. Few companies make them and the others are going to wait out the panic instead of tooling up and then holding the bill when demand gets back to normal.

I believe they said that the manufacturer was backlogged and it would take weeks for them to have more ready. the fact the manufacturer didn't tell them they weren't getting their full shipment seems extremely questionable, especially if RJF paid for 40 barrels.
