Would love it if I saw penalties

I love his tv series', It would be soo much better if at the end of each show they would have the fact that the builders and inspectors lost their jobs, and maybe had fines and jail time. That would be awesome! Throughout the entire show I keep wondering if these people are still out there doing a crap job. Public humiliation is the least they deserve for putting peoples lives in danger and making their lives hell.

I agree the inspectors did a bad job in most of these cases. But you also have to keep in mind that a lot of the problems Mike finds are from ripping into walls and ceilings. No home inspector is not going to start tearing out drywall to look behind it. Because then he/she would be on the hook to pay for the damage they caused. Mike and his crew do it because they're going to re-do everything anyway. Mike admits this in his show regularly. I do like the work he does.

Not a lot. 99% of the problems he sees are obvious from just looking and knowing what he is seeing. He only pulls down drywall and shingles when there are signs of a bigger problem and he is looking for causes, sources, and degree of damage. The pics the camera takes of the problems, even I can see how dangerous most of is. He says that all the time.

It's laughable to think the problems weren't grossly misrepresented and exaggerated for entertainment value. If a house needs $300k investment to bring it to code, it would've been condemned. These guys are doing gut-renos on an entire home in order to take care of problems many magnitudes smaller.

It's basically a home makeover show with home inspection as their unique spin. It gives them plausible excuse to demolish stuff. Very entertaining though, LOL!
