Why no Love for Zakk Wylde?

just finished watching the movie and it was pretty good but i was alittle disappointed with the lack of Zakk.
he is never mentioned in the movie, ozzy never talked about him, never interviewed, he has one scene that he talks in but thats it except for a few shots of him performing with ozzy and a solo of his playing during a scene. just find it strange that as ozzy's longest serving guitar player he isn't even talked about. his story his rise to fame how he came to be, nothing. Zakk was a big part of the band, even just a min or two talking about his role would have sufficed, say what you will but he deserved at least that. So its alittle disrespectful imo (i'm sure he has countless stories of Oz he could have added) Even in the credits he isnt up there he is down in the middle after serj tankian, now correct me if im wrong but i didnt even see serj in the movie lol.

just an observation, good flick though

I agree. Wylde is a great guitar player, without him Ozzy wouldn't be doing as great today in my opinion.

what about Jake E Lee??

reply

Amen!

And to answer the original question. This docu is about Ozzy, not Zakk.

It sure as PHUK isn't about Paul Mcartney and tommy lee either but they are included. Zakk was THE ozzy guitarist second only to Randy but randy wasn't with the band as long as Zakk was.

Well should it have been only Ozzy talk to the cam?
I am sure Paul McCArtney has more credibility than Zakk and made outsiders check out the docu and maybe check out Ozzy's music.
Tommy Lee was there on the 86 tour which is famous for the booze and drug stories. So let the guy talk, he witnessed Ozzy at his worst.

It is called publicity and money rules this world, so get over it.

On a side note, I believe Zakk was having a ba dtime back then and that might be why he is not included. He nearly died, had to stop drinking, got kicked out of Ozzy, etc.

IMO Zakk is a great guitarist but the albums he played on are by far the worst Ozzy albums. That is just my opinion.
I just don't enjoy the 90s hardrock southern stuff Ozzy released with overproduced synthetic vocals and guitar squeals every 2 seconds.

Randy died before he released a crap album so he will always be number 1 to fans. However Jake E Lee had to pick up the debris and managed to record the last rgeat Ozzy album (The Ultimate Sin) on his own when Ozzy was at his worst drug and drinkwise.

He is the tragic hero forgotten by mainstream hardrock lovers, thus I give kudos to him.

There is NO WAY IN HELL Paul McCArtney has more credibility on the subject of ozzy's career than a man who spent over a decade straight with him touring constantly and in the studio recording over 5 albums in addition to hanging out in regular life. Neither does Tommy lee because they were on the same tour one year.

It is called publicity and money rules this world, so get over it.

There are still a few people left in this world who can't be bought. Sadly I thought that Ozzy was one of them.

I was not referring to Ozzy but Music in general. Paul McCartney has a lot to say when it comes to music, like it or not.

And when it comes to knowing Ozzy inside out, Where the hell is Sharon? SHe knows him better than anybody yet she barely talks in the Docu.

The problem here is that you are a Zakk fan and wanted to see more of him. You should wait for a docu on Zakk or BLS.

Fact is that the docu only tells the story up till Bark at the Moon and then jumps to the Reality Tv show, omitting most of the Zakk years anyways, so he would have been talking bout things he wasn't part of.

And like I said before, he was in rehab, got booted from the band, etc. He just wasn't around and had other things on his mind.

Like it or not, Tommy Lee took part in a historical tour and I rather hear him talk bout the shenanigans they did than hearing Zakk talk bout stuff fans already know anyways.

Ozzy = money whore. It has been that way for the last 30 years.

Where have you been the last decade or so?

reply

Dude, Wylde is a "after the fact" guitarist. Ozzy made Zakk, not the other way around. If you want to go listen to Zakk Wylde Ozzy days go right ahead, I'll stick with the real Ozzy and that's 80s Ozzy. With the exception of a handful of songs from Wicked on, there is not much inspiration or contribution to the music itself from the guitarist. The ONLY person behind Zakk is Gus, Randy and Jake are far ahead in stature and history then Zakk could ever obtain.

reply

Now there is a valid argument. Loved Jake. Wylde I could care less.

reply

Without Ozzy Wylde would of been nothing. Know your Metal history before you speak next time. When most people think Ozzy guitarist they think Randy Rhoads, not Zach Wylde!

reply

Come to think of it, I'll give Brad Gillis of Night Ranger more cred at being Ozzy's guitarist then Zakk F-ing Wylde.

reply

They probably didn't want his beard stealing the show. Do YOU know anyone who's gaze isn't sucked in by that thing?

reply

Ozzy (or Sharon?) kicked Zakk from the band without telling him. He first heard it from the press, when he was asked about it in an interview. So I would guess that Zakk has no love for the Osbournes, and that's why he's not in the movie.

reply

weird seeing as zakk and ozzy are still great friends, talk all the time and the main decision was that ozzy didnt want his band just sounding like black label society all the time same as black label society wanted to stop sounding like ozzy, I run the black label chapter in the uk and have met zakk and ozzy many times including ozzys gig last june when zakk was his special guest backstage

Zakk isn't in the film because he didn't contribute much to the music other then the live performances and they had a fallout of some kind that is rumored to have started long before they split.

We met Zakk at an Oz Fest back in 2003 and he was a complete jackhole. If I could post my pictures, backstage pass and ticket on here I would. Some dude next to me calmly asked Zakk for an autograph on a very rare and cool longsleeve shirt, Zakk grabbed it wiped his forehead with it and threw it back and accused him of wanting to sell it and refused to sign it, he started spouting off actual bible scripture about greed and acted like a complete fool. The dude and most others nearby were dumbfounded. I jokingly yelled "ozzy's signature will get you a lot more cash then Zakk's anyway" and he just snapped. He didn't see who said it but he got in everyone's face and almost beat some dude up for not getting out of his way in time. Worst experience I had ever seen with a Metal star in all my times meeting and greeting them. Ozzy was awesome. He was signing and talking like he was a kid at a carnival, and this is pre-show, even though I wasn't at the post meet and greet I heard Ozzy was the last to leave, and Zak wasn't even there.

reply

I was a bit surprise at Paul McCartney being featured but then I remembered that "She Loves You" was the song that gave Ozzy the dream of being a star so that was the justification. A bit unnecessary though.

Confused?.....You will be.

reply

Has is occured to anyone that maybe Jack and the producers reached out to Zakk, but he was busy, or unable to meet?

I don't know that it is true, but a very plausible possibility.

reply

Zakk was booted from the band while the doc was in production, thus explaining his sporadic presence.

Also, it's called "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne," not "God Bless Zakk Wylde."
