I just submitted a review where I explain my reason. I don't think it matches everyone's reason. But it should give you some idea why the rating is so low.
The show begins very strong. It is a big world with lots of characters & suspense. But in the later half of the show, the primary focus (or obsession) becomes Fatmagul & Kerim's relationship.
This becomes a no-win situation for the show.
If they present it directly as a romance, some part of the audience would correctly be upset that Kerim - who chased her constantly & put the rapists attention on her - would be accepted as her lover...over someone like Mustafa who knew & loved her from childhood.
So they present it as an indirect romance, and this upsets another part of the audience. They have to watch Kerim constantly apologizing & demanding Fatmagul's love. This just repeats & repeats until Fatmagul gives in. This is not very romantic or satisfying to watch.
In my review, I explain why the reconciliation of Fatmagul & Mustafa was a more realistic & romantic story to have pursued. They would have utilized the same elements of Kerim & Fatmagul's relationship...but it would be more realistic & poignant.
Plus, it would bring all separate threads of the series together...because of Mustafa's direct involvement with both Fatmagul & the Yessaran's. Under Kerim & Fatmagul, the stories became too separate & the actual rape case lost focus.
