Horrible way to glamourise a brutal murder...

I was shocked to notice that 99% of the topics here were concerning Knox (although not at all surprised - it was a big news story) and almost none concern the definitely innocent victim that was Meredith Kercher - a real person who seemed to have great potential as a human being.
To have some of the postees told "It's a film that is about the murderer, not the victim, therefore kindly get over it" - I don't think people realise quite how offensive they seem!

To have the brutal (REAL) murder of your daughter up for sensationalising into some hammed-up melodrama is pretty sick to me. This film should never have been made.

reply

I don't know if this film should or should not have been made. I haven't seen it and probably won't. This murder should not have been sensationalized but that is the fault of the Italian authorities with the help from various tabloids who decided to try this case in the media rather than in court. Any film made of this case should focus more on the corruption that denied both Meredith and Amanda justice.

Well, Meredith did not receive justice. Amanda got away with participating in a brutal murder and will profit from it with her book of lies.
Very sad.

considering there is absolutely no evidence to suggest Amanda had anything to do with the murder and still had four years taken from her, I'd say she has been denied justice. Meredith was murdered and though her murdere has been found and is still in prison, she never the less has not received justice since the investigation was so badly mishandled. All because a prosecutor believed in satanism. Very sad.

I've already asked Gabby in another thread to lay out her case for us. I wan't to see what led her to believe in Amanda's guilt. I suspect it'll be ripped apart,

reply

Actually she was convicted so the onus is upon those who feel she's innocent to make their case. I suspect it'll be ripped apart though as she's guilty as sin as is her addled ex.

reply

The Italian court overturned BOTH their convictions for the 2nd time in 4 years today. Obviously, that means they're not guilty, but keep on believing that they are, with no real evidence as usual.

reply

No it means that they were found "not guilty" and some media reports are saying it was because of "insufficient evidence", which isn't the same thing at all. OJ & Casey were acquitted, yet many people still think they're guilty as sin.
That said, AK/RS got away with it, so they're home free.

"Hey, look at that! She's not crazy, she's being chased by a cheetah!"

reply

I believe the court said they did not do the crime.

reply

Nope, they said "Il fatto no sussiste"- the facts are not sustained that the defendant committed the act due to insufficient evidence.
They were acquitted under paragraph 2 of article 530 which is an insufficient evidence acquittal. Had they had have been acquitted under paragraph one, then they would have been exonerated.

reply

news reports say their statement was the strongest possible meaning they did not do the crime. the reports do not say anything about lack of evidence.

reply

I don't care what news reports said, they were acquitted under paragraph 2 of article 530 of the Italian Criminal Procedure Code which is an insufficient evidence acquittal, which the SC actually had no mandate to make.
I'll take the official court records and relevant criminal code over your news reports, thanks.

in this case I prefer the news.

The Court of Cassation in Rome found Ms Knox and Mr Sollecito not guilty on the grounds that they had “not committed the act”. Italian law recognises different levels of acquittal; this is the most categorical.

Yes I've already laughed at you for putting media reports over actual court records. is it that you wish for me to laugh at you again, is that it?
No they didn't. Yet again, "Il fatto no sussiste" meaans that the facts were not sustained that they committed the act due to insufficient evidence. You're desperately playing on words that are clearly lost in translation to you in order to validate your position and are still laughed at. You're stupid.

reply

the court said they did not do the deed. that6 is fact.

Amanda Knox was convicted on more evidence than was used to convict Scott Peterson & serial killer Rose West.

No "Satanic" motive was ever introduced or mooted at her trial either and it's highly implausible to think she'd be convicted & then have her conviction upheld on appeal due to one person believing in Satanism.

Also, Satanism is actually a perfectly legit & protected religion like any other religion in free nations, so I'm not sure what you mean tbh.

The tragedy here is a lying PR campaign which has deceived many people regarding the overwhelming evidence against Knox n& Sollecito. Thankfully that's starting to change now.

Amanda Knox is guilty as sin & I fully expect her conviction to be confirmed by the court of Cassation. Maybe then the dignified Kercher family can finally have some closure.

I agree with you, Pete. The murder shouldn't have been sensationalized the way that it was. It was disrespectful to both Meredith's friends/family and Amanda. I'll admit that it sickens me to think about MK's father joining in on the unsubstantiated claims Mignini thought up when he knew he didn't have the evidence to otherwise convict AK and RS with.

This film is a steaming pile of crap. The least they could have done was research the case and avoid putting disinformation about the evidence in it.

Cram it with walnuts, ugly!

This story is interesting because usually when college girls come home and find their roommate brutally raped and murdered by a burglar, the cops actually investigate the crime instead of taking that girl away and terrorizing her with no lawyer present until she finally gets so confused from the stress she makes some nonsensical statement that they use against her and declare the "case closed" mere days after occurring, before the forensics have even been analyzed. This whole case is an IQ test and anyone who believes this girl had anything to do with it fails.

To get a glimpse of just what it might be like to have a dozen police officers screaming at you all night go watch Full Metal Jacket. Who was the Alpha personality in the bootcamp scenes? The various recruits who could hardly function while SGT Hartman was in their face screaming at them? Or the Drill Sargent? I know it is just a fictional movie, one widely regarded as one of the best, but that is a very accurate portrayal of how people generally give in and do what those screaming at them tell them to. However, tabloid minded fools would have you believe Amanda was the Alpha personality during this interrogation, coyly manipulating the cops as if she were Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct.

reply

I agree with you. Awful. This movie shouldn't have been done

"However, I am sickened at the number of Knox fans. They're pretty disturbed people."

the same could be said of those who pronounce Knox guilty with no real evidence.
