Greeks outraged by this film

Even though it's a Turkish production and despite the controversy surrounding it, I sure hope this isn't similar to Valley of the Wolves. So far, the only thing bothering me is that the film is entirely in Turkish, and there may be no dialogue in the Medieval Greek language at all even though Constantine XI is on the cast list (played by a Turkish actor though). If it was based on a graphic novel the way 300 did, then I would understand and simply enjoy the film as it is. At the moment, I'm not sure if it is.

And regarding the storyline. Surrendering to ottomans was only salvation? Lost the city to its rightful owners as the last prophet has welcomed the conquerer? I think it needs a rewrite.

i saw the storyline too...i really...dont know what to say...laugh or cry...i'm starting to believe honestly that they really dont know their origin or their past...they cant believe all these..!a conquered city is a city thats been sieged by its righfull owners...dear god...what else r we gonna see here..!

Indeed it is, having seen the trailer there are clearly similarities between the two films. Except 300 is a work of fiction inspired by a graphic novel, only loosely based on the actual event, and was developed purely as fictional work for the sole purpose of entertainment, at least this was what Warner Bros said.

Hard to tell if Conquer 1453 is also inspired by any fictional work or not.

Such a movie would be produced by a fabricated and exaggerated fiction anyway. Hard to tell if it really happened (most likely not). But this movie is based on a true story. Do not like it? Do not watch it then.

Too bad... it is one of the great stories not told on film. Looks pretty bad

The conquest of Istanbul in the history, the the military methods Fatih used, the real thing was full of fiction dudes. If they show us the real history it will be almost a fiction to see.

I have watched the movie, and they didn't say anything about the Ottomans being the rightful owners. I'm therefor quite surprised of your post here. Perhaps a bad translation. I've watched it with Dutch subtitles and even in the subtitles I didn't encounter such line in the movie.

Actually nobody in Greece gives a *beep* about this movie.. greekreporter is just a blogger site, written in english.
