The Message/Lion of the Desert

I recently saw two movies from a muslim point of view that managed to convey the principles of Islam without having to consist out of offensive BS.

''The Message'' about Prophet Mohammed tells something about the principles of Islam and does so in a way that makes it accesible to western viewers. ''Lion of the Desert'' from 1981 tells the story of Omar Mukthar and his struggle against the imperialistic forces of Mussolini.

Both movies appeal to easterners as much as westerners and do so with a certain respect for each other's cultural background. That's exactly what I think Fetih 1453 missed. And it's rather stupid. For a Turkish production it'd be splendid if it received global recognition, but the movie is so politically incorrect that it will be seen as ''that Turkish nationalistic movie' in the eyes of anyone that is not Turkish. The rich history of the Ottomans deserves so much more attention than just mindless exploitation.
