For Nine Episodes, I Find This Strangely Enjoyable

I never cared for the original (which was very odd as I am a fan of both Jean Marsh and Gordon Jackson), I just found it strangely lacking in its setup.

I think the last time I tried watching it, the housekeeper had taken a baby and brought it to the residence? What sort of meaningless plot was that?

Downton Abbey truthfully, has run this course with the actors quitting and it just seems to be plodding along trying to find something to do with the characters.

But for its very limited run, I'm rather liking this redone Upstairs Downstairs.

Perhaps in knowing how it will end and wrap up and that it won't be too dragged out.

On the original UpDown, the cook, Mrs. bridges, is very upset when a young kitchen maid killed herself. She sort of snaps, and takes a baby out of its pram. Hudson basically promises to care for her, if the judge lets her go.

I watched through the entire original UpDown just recently. I still enjoy it, James in particular. I can't stand Lady Marjorie. Not the character so much as the actress. She always seemed too old, and not nearly as beautiful as supposed to be. I think it was the horrible makeup and pink lipstick they used on her.
