I was so sad to see this film flopped as badly as it has.
$1.75 million its first weekend? OUCH.
That's got to be one of DeNiro's worst openings.
No body seemed interested enough to even go find out if the movie was any good.

Yeah it's a real shame.
It's a movie about one of the greatest stories in sports. well acted, and well told. It was pretty heart breaking to discover that I had to drive of 60 miles just to find a theatre where it was playing and even more so to discover when I got there that I was the ONLY person in the audience.
Not that anyone anywhere gives a damn what I think, nor should they, but if you are reading this please consider going see the movie and supporting it!
Latinos in the United States need to start supporting Latino films. This movie was written and directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz, a Venezuelan. It starred Edgar Ramirez, a Venezuelan actor, Ana de Armas, a Cuban actress, and Ruben Blades, a Panamanian. This movie was based on the true life story of a Panamanian/Mexican boxer, Roberto Duran. The entire first part of the movie was completely in Spanish and filmed in Panama. If we want to see more Latinos being depicted on the big screen, we need to support Latino movies.
I don't think this movie was promoted right. It should be re-classified as a romantic-comedy. They should re-do the movie trailer showing the Love Story between Roberto and Felicidad. Then, actors, Edgar Ramirez and Ana de Armas, need to go together to every Spanish language talk show and promote the film again! A few minutes on Univision's "El Gordo y la Flaca" talk show will reach millions of Latinos.
They should also change the Title to: "Manos de Piedra" (una historia de amor).
This movie should have been a hit!
I didn't get a chance to see it by my house because it was gone after a week.
I was stunned so I looked up its opening weekend and my jaw dropped.
Honestly I thought this was going to end up Direct to Video and VOD and maybe it should have.
Its a shame.

What the hell? Maybe it flopped because there was ZERO advertisement for it. I saw one commercial for it back in July and have been waiting ever since. Now I just remembered to look up when it is being released..and find out it came out back in August. That's really dropping the ball. Is is still playing anywhere?

That is very sad, truthfully I didn't even know it was out yet :( I remember seeing about it been made on a boxing page on Facebook but that's the last I heard of it, not seen any promotion what so ever to the point I forgot about it.

I really enjoyed it. DeNiro back to acting again. Thank God.
Good story. The boxing was rather uninspired but that wasn't he point of this film.
This was underrated and should have had more attention paid to it.
