When the Detective checked on Abby's whereabouts, why did the friend's parent where she was supposed to be spending the night cover her up?

haha so true.. that was messed up.. I thought either Abby's parents or Abby's friend's parents were involved too.. but nope.. don't know what was the deal with cover-up!!!!!!!

When they were waiting for Dennis' character to leave, Abby tells Travis "im out on parole, Im supposed to be at my friends house, she has my cell phone, so if my parents call my cell, my FRIEND will answer and just say im in the shower" -- i paraphrased...but thats the jist.
