This is like that 'Moulin Rouge!' junk

Remember that crappy "Moulin Rouge!" with Nicole Kidman and Ewan whatshisname? This is the same kind of thing. I walked out of "Moulin Rouge!" and turned this off on HBO after the first 15 minutes.

Skip it.

You didn't like Moulin Rouge? It was inspired! This movie uses the same artificiality to great effect, and I thought the costumes and set decorations alone made this film worth watching. Granted, I didn't find it nearly as captivating as Moulin Rouge was, but it was an impressive production.

Moulin Rouge was an inspired, superb gem of filmmaking, and you're certainly in the minority for not enjoying it.

And his name is Ewan McGregor. He's quite possibly the finest film actor to ever come out of Scotland.

Moulin Rouge's story fit it's flashy, silliness...this stylized, quirky spectacle does not fit Anna Karenina's classic narrative. There's nothing cute or precious about the novel. I think the filmmakers have confused Tolsky for Dickens.

Just had to wade in here... Dickens - cute and precious? :/ Have you read the novels? Children starved and women beaten, poverty, lies, deceit, toxic relationships and manipulative, selfish rich people playing God with peoples lives in a society that turns a blind eye?...

Loved Mulan Rouge this not so much except for the guy that was playing the count he was fine!!!!! Lol

As I was watched this, I asked myself, did Baz Luhrmann(director of Moulin Rouge) direct this? If not, did a member of his family direct this? If not, did Baz open a school for directing, and this director went and passed every course. That's how similar in direction both these movies are.

I want you to pull my hair, and ravish me, and leave me for dead.

I said exactly the same when I watched the film on fast forward but with the subtitles so i could follow what was going on. I thought it similar to Luhrman's pretentious Moulin Rouge, which it closely resembles and appears to be a film which you either love or hate - no in between. The costumes were gorgeous, the cast was stellar, and thanks to the quirky staging, the film was unwatchable. I just could not wait to get to the end.

While this movie isn't for everyone, it is quite avante guarde in it's style so you'd have to like that flare to like this movie I suppose.

I love this movie!

I haven't been able to see Moulin Rouge more than once, it was so painful to watch. Same feeling about this one, although the scene in the park is pretty hot.
