I cut it off at number 23

Hulk wasn't the most technically superb wrestler of all time by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, you name another "Superstar" that was as big/famous/marketable as him.

Watching it with my son right now. I don't know sow Hogan and Flair aren't in the top ten. Big time wrestling icons. Their list is obviously flawed.

To be honest, I don't know a lot about wrestling (I have a passing interest in it), but I was really surprised that Hulk Hogan was #23, meanwhile John Cena is up higher? Cut me a break.

This really was ridiculous. My only guess is that Hulk Hogan spent most of his glory years in the WCW, competitor with WWF. Even though WWF bought out and merged with WCW, making WWE they still want to highlight WWF superstars

There really is no comparison between Hulk Hogan and the Rock. The Rock was a great superstar in wrestling for the time being and raise a big fan base (where is he now in wrestling?), Hogan was popular in the 80's, 90's, and even 2000's as a wrestler and yet the Rock out ranks Hogan? Since the Rock was a product of the WWF, for this countdown yes.

Also notice how there was no metion of Sting (classic and contemporary superstar) and Goldberg. Why? Because they were mainly products of the WCW.

I found this countdown entertaining and informative, especially of the older wrestlers who I had never heard of but were crucial to the sport, yet the countdown is flawed due to bias of the WWF compared to WCW.

Hogan was probably the worst pure wrestler in the history of wrestling. His charisma is what got him over. He meant more symbolically than what he offered in the ring.

reply

I completely agree.

This list was totally bias. I skipped ahead once 23 was announced and went to the top ten.

Hogan should have been in the top 3 let alone the top 10. I didn't even know that the ultimate warrior and sting didn't even make the list.

This needs to be redone by the fans and not but WWE and their croonies.

reply

the list is called the 50 greatest superstars.....not wrestlers if it was Dean Malenko would be number 1. That being said.....i know he was never a member of the WWE but what about Sting, howbout Booker T? Those two should be on the list. I also wish Arn Anderson, my all time fav was there but that might be a stretch

Sting has never wrestled for WWF/WWE. He is literally the greatest "superstar" to never wrestle for the the WWF/WWE. He would, of course, not be included in the list for that reason.

Bill Goldberg was arguably the greatest WCW-born wrestler of all time, but was just a footnote in WWE history, so also not included. Anybody from the NWA/AWA days would be included because Vince McMahon was involved with it before WWF, and because he subsequently bought out WCW.

Anyway, it's the Top 50 Supertars in WWE history. Don't expect non-WWE superstars and superstars who briefly made appearences on WWE to make the cut.

Overall, the list was pretty good IMO. Not perfect, but it made sense.

And to respond to the haters, Hogan basically fell off after he defected to WCW and became a heel as "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan. He never quite recovered from that really. As a matter of fact, they only make reference to "Hollywood" Hogan one time, and during which they show a very brief clip from the "Rock vs. Hogan" match.

The world is yours & everything in it. Its out there; get on your grind & get it.

I watched #23 then I turned it off, so flawed.
