Who's watching the tapes?

I don't know if its been discussed already but who do you think is watching the tapes? Why? I haven't seen The Marked Ones or PA4 so maybe the answer is there.

reply

YOU are. The fact that these tapes exist is enough to justify the fact that the audience is watching. It's a storytelling device. It doesn't mean anyone within the film's universe is watching them.

OP: Its never revealed who (or what) is playing/watching the tapes.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Is it not the cops? Like in the first two films when the prologue mentions the various police departments thanking people and stuff. Plus, they're all edited together and sped up at different times. I get what you mean by noone within that actual universe is maybe watching, but when I watch these films I always imagine it's someone investigating the murders, because of all the editing that's done to turn about 100 hours of footage into 90 minutes or so...

The film begins with the tapes being put in the basement, and then going missing when Kristi's house got trashed.

The first two films were "found footage", so I guess this film was "unfound footage"? DUN DUN DUNNN!!!
