Should have been a straight romantic drama instead of a horror

As a horror film, I don't think it delivered. It wasn't scary. Sure, there were some scenes you were at the edge of your seat(not too much). But what really had potential was the romantic angle of the movie. Jennie/Robert really stole the show. This would have made a much better as a romantic drama. If written properly, it could have been quite the success and a cult hit.

The movie dragged on from the very beginning which ruined any suspense it could have had, so I'm not sure what scenes you would refer to as having anyone on the edge of their seat.

However, I agree somewhat. When I was watching it, I was thinking..."Why isn't this just a drama with some whiny suicidal kids and a nutcase who shoots people at the end?" No effort put into any kills, no effort put into the twist, no effort anywhere aside from the actors. The only person in my 28 years on this planet that I've heard of even *possibly* stabbing themselves to death and being labeled as suicide was Elliott Smith. None of it made any sense...but if it was a drama instead of horror, it could have been fleshed out enough to kinda make sense. Kinda.

I have to agree that this was not much of a horror movie. I do not watch that many but this was not great. It was not terrible but, it could have been better. I agree it could of had a ''cult'' following like so many horror movies if they would of stepped it up. It was more like a teen angst movie to me. The main reason I tuned in was because of Robert Sheehan. The best parts for me were him, the fact Idris Elba produced this, and the music. The music was good albeit at times I felt some of it was misplaced. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the music and for the first hour the movie. The thing that really took me out of the frame of a good scary movie was the revelation of the killer. Like so many had said, it made little to no sense and then the random taking out of characters at the end did not make any sense. I actually thought the killer was Archie's father come back from prison or the dead because they focused on his nightmares They even made a point of him saying he didn't have them when he was with JazI wouldn't necessarily, search for this movie, like I did. Yet, if a person sees it and is curious they could tune it but, I would not say it was a must see. It just was not a scary movie to me.

This movie was so awful, but it did have potential. I didn't think it fit as a horror. It would've been better as a romance drama. Create a better script/story and take away the cheesy horror, it could've been an amazing teen romance.
