Cute but scattershot, maybe just like their real lives

It was all over the place, & seemed like more of a Buddy Story than either a Horse Story or a Redemption Story. In this story, I'd say 4 things matter:

1. The HORSE; The horse(s) were the best thing about this film. The only tiny complaint I'd have there would be that more closeups of horses running would be a plus. It beats the hell out of bar / nightclub scenes.

2. The OWNER(s); Fail. The younger owner came off as a he-got-lucky nouveau riche slacker / jerk. I'd say the only really positive aspect to him was his loyalty. The older owner, well, WhoTF is this guy? No chemistry. No nothing.

3. The JOCKEY; I guess the rent-a-jockey-for-1-day is true to what really happened, but it is one of many aspects that leave the feeling that these guys (& the horse) just got really lucky, like 1 in 1,000,000 rather than 1 in 50.

4. The TRAINER; Major fail. He makes a deal with the horse that he's going to "give it all he's got", b/c he's tired of being a loser. He swears it. And then ... we see nothing new, no change, just more of the same ... except for the KD win. WTF does a trainer do? WTF did THIS trainer do? Who knows. It seems like an irrelevant thought to the people who made this film. Oh yeah, there were "vitamins" & a stall lock. Aside from that ... nada.

Am I the only one that thought it was funny when they were congratulating themselves on what a great job they did to get into the KD, even though it was the Canadians who did ALL the work that earned the qualification? Not funny "Ha Ha".
