I was just reading an interview with Harry Gregg the goalkeeper, the man is a real hero! He went back into the plane to save a little toddler and then kept going back in to pull his teammates out. I was just reading that and thinking wow. How many people would have the courage to that, when the plane could blow up any second? What a wonderful man.
shareYeah the captain actually told him to get out of the plane but he kept going back to help people. The most amazing part is, he gets embarrassed about being thought of as a hero. He wants to be known as a lad from Northern Ireland who was a decent goalkeeper. Humble doesn't even come close.

I cannot imagine a single premiership player doing what Gregg did and remain humble about it.
These days, their agents would be toting the story to the highest bidder with Hello or OK vying for a photoshoot.

Does anyone know why this fellow didn't get a medal? If he was ordered out by the Captain of the aircraft the situation must have been truly dangerous. A George Medal, at least, surely?
