Saw this at the LIFF

A very good film exploring complex feelings and relationships. The footage of the child actor and the jackdaw was amazing.

There were lots of children in the audience as the BFI had this as one of their offerings for families during the festival. I think was a bold and brave choice because it is a film that exposes life's challenges and deals with the difficulties in life that some children face in reality.

I just watched this last night, courtesy of a Dutch friend who mailed me a copy.
The main child actor portraying Jojo was so un-selfconscious and natural that he carried you right through the story. Good support players as well.

A lovely film. But I'm just a bit concerned. I was always been told to never touch a baby jackdaw. A young bird may look in distress. But usually these young birds are overlooked by a hidden colony of jackdaws. A colony usually contains 20 birds. They may attack in full strength anybody who touches any young bird in their colony. So I think people should know that. I like the way the boy cared for the bird. And really became it's parent. It was just the points I have made that marred my enjoyment of the film.
