Did the video compiled by the organ donor have any meaning or interpretation in the larger idea of the movie? Wasn't there a reference to the mythical properties of philosophers stone? Possibly, glorifying and highlighting the idea of organ donation.

I think that sequence was a direct allusion to Plato's cave, wherein it is postulated that what we, as humans, see and understand of reality are but shadows on a cave wall.
