Why is this show so staged

I can't even bother to watch this show anymore because of how scripted and staged it is! I was in an 11 hour car ride and watched a marathon on my phone due to that being the only channel I could watch lol, and this show was so over the top scripted and over acted. The stars of the show were so corny and scripted, especially when they first tour the house and talk with the couples. Also the budget thing was so stupid, no matter the amount of money given she never once did everything the couple asked for. I watched an episode where a couple gave her $150,000 and she still couldn't do all 8 things they were asking because she ran out of money! Now I understand certain walls not being able to be taken down or add on rooms, but she only did 3 out 8 things and couldn't figure out why they wanted to move after. The realtor is a little better to watch, however he never stays within budget and always moves the couple out of their city.

That's because she's all about style over substance so she spends a ton of money on high end finishes that eat into the budget and make it impossible to do all the work the homeowners ask for.

I don't even hate watch this show anymore lol. I just hope it is SO staged that the homeowners aren't truly out of tens of thousands of dollars with very little to show for it just because Hillary wants a dramatic 'reveal' of the one or two rooms she can barely manage to make over. I would NEVER hire this woman to remodel/design my house. Not in a million years.

I agree- I also wonder why these home owners can't clean up their houses when they do the initial tour! They have clothes and toys thrown all over- dishes in the sink etc....
This show could be a great show if they didn't script it SO much.
We always know she will go over budget and won't be able to do everything on the list bc of problems. We always know that the guy will show 3 houses. The first 2 - they will not like and the last being a great house out of their price range- but doable!
It's hard to watch!
Most of the time- the love it at the end!

cause hilary sucks at her job. On fixxer upper they take 150k and do an entire house. The lover it and list it and love it and list it too must over pay their workers or pocket some money.

It is like watching a staged sitcom, for sure.
I actually prefer the USA version of this show...although THAT usa version is scripted too!
