A Dead Giveaway on whether they will List It (possible spoiler)

My husband and I love to watch Love it or List it. We've figured out a way to determine whether a couple will List it. Most couples are going to Love It (I'd guess 80-90% of the time) because they don't want to move. However, this one word will make them List It.

So far, this word has helped us guess they will List It about 90% of the time.

If you don't want to know the secret, please stop reading now.

Okay, here is the word: SPACE. If the couple is dealing with a situation in which there are too many people to occupy too little space, they will List It.

This typically occurs when the couple bought the house with maybe 1 child, but now they have 3 children and the house is too small for them. Or relatives moved in permanently and the space is too small for everyone to live together comfortably.

If it's just a nuisance that Hilary can correct by re-design, they will Love It. But if she can't correct the space issue, they are going to List It.

This formula has only failed us 1 time in which we were sure the couple would move, but they chose to stay.

Does anyone else see a formula on Love it or List It?

It's kind of fun to figure out the pattern on these shows.

I found out that they shoot two endings. One with them saying they'll love it and one saying they'll list it. Then the network decides which one they want to show. The show is so fake. It's worse than house hunters and their scripted bickering is really annoying! IMO.

Here's a clue to help in your decision to help you and your husband...THIS SHOW IS FAKE,PHONY,STAGED,SCRIPTED,NOT REAL,and just plain stupid.

reply

It's almost insulting to our intelligence at just how fake these shows are. I mean..why would every single homeowner get so mad at Hillary when it comes to code issues and therefore keeping Hillary from remodeling something? Why is that Hillary's fault??? There's always something to get pissed at her about when it comes to the remodels. So dumb and so scripted.

reply

Why would Hilary not take more into account what the homeowner wants in a house and instead decide on her own and then tell them how wrong what they want is when they deign to disagree?

reply

I have noticed the last house the couple whispers about before the Love it or List it is the one they will not be taking.

"Hillary did such a great job." "We are going to LIST IT!"

"But David found such a wonderful house." "We are going to LOVE IT!"

Exactly. That is the pattern. However, every so often--especially in more recent seasons--the editors pull a switcheroo to fool viewers who've discerned the brief.
