Neighborhood Vs. School District

Almost everyone wants to stay in their "neighborhood." What does that mean? Do they want their kids to stay in the same school? Have they made a lot of friends that they want to stay close to--maybe playmates for their kids. Do they want to stay in the same church (Catholic parishes are by area, although you can go to another church for some reasons--for example, you want to go to a church that has a Latin Mass or the priests are Jesuit or there are masses in other languages)? What exactly does neighborhood mean? Does it mean you can walk to the grocery store? I'd love to know.

Yes. Neighborhood meaning they love the area, schools, commute to/from work, friends/family nearby.

When I was a kid my dad was a radio DJ. People trying to establish careers in radio audition and go wherever they get a job offer, constantly trying to move up. By the time I was thirteen years old, we had lived in sixteen different places. I went to ten different schools by the time I graduated high school. I would have loved to have lived in one neighborhood, stayed in the same schools, and had childhood friendships that lasted more than months. That's why people try to stay in one place.
