oh boy 20,000 budget can only mean a few things....Free actors and a cheap camera all funds going to distribution....Sorry to all the toetag this and that but i just cant believe any of these reviews from these unknown entities especially when someone from fangoria says its a "grisly family tragedy" No score on rotten tomatoes means no one has even seen this except a select few

What is disturbing is that people like you call this a great movie. Please check yourself into your local state mental institution. You are not normal. You are deluded. Please seek help. Or better yet, watch something like Shawshank Redemption or No Country For Old Men to see there is another world out there that exists where there are quality movies. But knowing someone like you would give Shawshank and No Country 1 star!

The Shawshank Redemption is a good film, but so is Sella Turcica. A big budget is no indication of quality.

Of course big bugdet is no indication of quality, but even so you can still make low budget movies good. Paranormal Activity and Primer were cheaper than this garbage and they are still a million times better. 5 minutes was enough to watch this crap, and the acting was so atrocious, the production values were in line with a cheap porno film, and the script was just awful. So what the hell is the quality in the film that you can ascertain from it????
shareNobody said it was just as good as The Shawshank Redemption. It's an independent film, you have to forgive certain shortcomings. No, I guess they couldn't afford the best actors, but they told the story as best they could. As far as I'm concerned the acting was better than average for this sort of thing.
Anyway, did you watch any more than five minutes? Give it a chance.

I would rather watch a turd cook in a microwave than ever watch Shawshank again.
I'm not deluded or confused in thinking this. Shawshank is offensive in the way it panders to the audience. There is nothing surprising about the movie. I dislike the movie. Others do to.

There are many different types of movies. This really can't be compared to those Oscar winners you mentioned.
By the way, and this is just my opinion, but Shawshank is pure crap. God forbid somebody likes something the Academy didn't tell them to like.
Toe Tag is still a very small independent company, despite their cult following. Mostly run by the Vogels and their friends (correct me if I'm wrong, Fred) :D Their films are still more hard-hitting than most big-budget horror films (although controversial as well, but I think that's exactly what they are aiming at.) I haven't seen Sella Turcica yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Paranormal Activity sucked. It literally bored me so much i almost fell asleep. And yes a person from ToeTag did start this thread. They are a small company and have to market for themselves. But he was not praising the film, he was simply stating that the film got reviewed. And yes i am biased because i do know ToeTag and enjoy their films. But i enjoyed their films way before i knew them. Also i am not "shilling" and neither is anyone from ToeTag. They have not asked me to write anything good about their films. They aren't *beep* Nick Palumbo. And you can keep trolling away buddy because nobody cares what you say :).

Most people seem to be comparing this film to "regular" films. Which is a good thing, as it means more than just the cult August Underground market ARE seeing this film.
Simply put, I compared this film to the 3 AU films, and it fared MUCH better. As it was in FOCUS and actually attempted at a story, plot, character development, etc.
Can't say the same for any of the AU films. So compared to the AU trilogy, this film rocked.
Compared to many horror films, not so much. But the plot did interest me.
And Jade Risser is adorable.
