After watching this I really want to eat sushi that he prepared. I guess this is the kind of trip you will only go to experience it.
The son's restaurant in Roponggi seems to be more relaxed though.

Jiro is a racist old git and runs his shop like the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld. If you understand Japanese, be prepared to be condescended to and likely having to hear racist and xenophobic remarks directed at you. It's possibly that you will be turned away for being a foreigner anyway.
Please don't support these backwards thinking Japanese. Go to his son's place if you think you must. Or rather, do some more research about Tokyo Sushi restaurants and find out that the hype around Jiro is unwarranted and that there are much better places (taste-wise) who are not run by people who hate your guts.
Kind of harsh, no? After all, he didn't get to where he is by being a lightweight in a career like this. And how do you know this about Jiro?
