I thought this movie was pretty goo ...

I am not sure where all the dislike for this movie comes from. While I admit it is not the best movie I have watched (particularly about sexual slavery), it at the very least raises awareness about this problem which happens all over the world (including America), which is probably one of the main reasons this film was made.

I have read a couple of comments which complain that this was allegedly financed by a Christian organization. Who cares if it was or wasn't?! Christians are not the only ones who are sickened by the idea of buying and selling humans for any reason. There are Atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, etc. who are sickened at the thought of this.

This movie in no way bashes any culture, nor does it promote or bash any religion. It recognizes that there is great poverty around the world ... so much that some families feel the need to sell their children. (I am in no way trying to justify selling a child btw.) Obviously, there were many Cambodians (in this film) who recognized how wrong sex slavery was (evident by the grandfather protecting his granddaughter, the older sex slave hiding her little sister, and the police attempting to busts these rings.

Yes, "yum yum" and "boom boom" is real. Yum yum refers to giving oral sex to a man. Boom boom refers to sexual intercourse. These are real terms taught to many of the young sex slaves so that they can "understand" what they are supposed to do. The thought of a young child having to do these things should sicken the viewer much more than any negative aspect of the film (ex. they didn't use Cambodian actors, this is a "cultural" belief, it was low budget, etc.)

One more thing I would like to add - Mira Sorvino, who is very involved in organizations which help fight human trafficking, did an incredible job of acting in this movie. Her character was very sympathetic. Her character's back story was very sad. Her portrayal of sadness and anger were very realistic IMO.
