Trapped on the roof...

When Paul's fade is trapped on the roof by John when he closes the door, I was a bit confused as to why this was a bad thing. I'm just wondering if this was a plothole or if anyone has come up with an explanation...

What confused me was that Neil said fades LIKE being on rooftops so they don't bump into people. How do those other fades manage? Surely the majority of rooftops have can't be reached without opening and closing a door?

Also, being dead, surely it wouldn't hurt simply to jump off the roof? I know organic matter is very painful but why would physical pain hurt? And even if it was painful, big deal, it's not like the fall would kill him...

I don't know, it just didn't make sense to me.

Because their physiology is different than humans which limits the way they can interact with the physical world. When people past through them it causes discomfort.

But they're dead, how could they feel discomfort? Its the rules of their world. They can't leap off of the rooftops.

Maybe its a rule made by the forces that created life? Or its just the natural law that has emerged out of their environment.Somehow Fades are just probably affected differently by gravity. At least thats what I think.

What do you guys think?

The monster you feared did not exist until you created it.

Maybe it's not knowing you'd die that's scary about jumping off a building but just the falling in general. You've never looked down off something really high and imagined what it'd be like to fall? It sends shivers through my body when I think of it. I'm not sure that even knowing that I wouldn't die would make that easy to overcome. But it's merely speculation.

By their own law just walking should cause them blinding pain so that's a massive problem to start with. Sure I felt he should have just jumped off the roof I thought it was ridiculous but hey it's a fantasy I don't look too much into it. I could sit all night talking about Stargate SG-1s lack of logic in almost every single episode but there is no point cos it's just a fantasy.

I was under the impression that it hurt to make contact with organic matter. I don't think pavement counts.

Or the other explanation could be that the writers made some rules so that the plot could go a certain way.
