Two questions

First, how did they finally get his name as the possible killer? I remember the scene where the two cops were talking and one just said his name and they went and staked out his place, but where did they pull that name from? (I'm sure they said it and I just missed it).

Second question, what was with the completely incorrect profiling of the killer? They made a point to show that this guy was nothing like the loner/loser the police profiler described. Was that to show us that this guy is some kind of anomaly?

Well, they got his location from the IP address. I can't remember how they got his name.

To answer your second question - YES. They were proving how Markoff was against the profile of a serial killer. If you look at all the Dahmers, Gacys, Bundys, etc - they all fit the same profile.

Though was this guy a serial killer? He shot the girl when he got spooked. But, what did he do with the other girls? Would he have eventually started to get more psycho/violent? When did he start these violations? The movie didn't do a good job explaining timelines and motives.

reply

We don't know when he started those violations, nor do we know what he did with the other girls. Short of making up facts, the movie couldn't really have answered any of those questions. He never admitted he was guilty and now he's dead so we'll probably never know.

I did some research, and to answer your question, no, he wasn't a serial killer. Every time he committed the crime he would say (in real life) "I'm not going to kill you". The second time he pulled out the gun, the girl fought back and he shot her in self defense. But the first and third time he did it, he was just in it for the money.

"He shot her in self defense'??? Are you retarded?

reply

Bottom line Allison, I don't think he would have ever shot anyone, at least at first anyway, if the girl(s) never put up any kind of a fight. Those hookers are pretty tough.

the did get his name via his IP address. I watched a story they did on him on dateline nbc in 2009/early 2010. For those of you interested. You probably can find the story somewhere. I actually found the dateline nbc one to be more interesting than the movie. haha

I remember watching it 2 years ago. I wish i can watch it again as a refresher.

First, he had 16 victims, but we only know the identity of 3. So we don't know what he did do and what he would have done. However, just 2 days after he killed Julissa, we know he attacked another woman. Just 2 days after! If he were all spooked about having accidentally killed a woman, he would have laid low for a much longer time period than that. Seems like if anything, he was escalating.

They prob thought he was going to kill them. I'd fight too!

Self defense? You're a special kind of stupid aren't you?

reply

if he shot her in self defense [still pissing myself over that stupidity] then why did she 'fight back'?

BECAUSE HE ATTACKED HER FIRST! It is self defense only when the first person starts and the second person finishes!

I don't know the answers to all your questions and I have similar questions. I need to read up more on the original case.

But, with someone like this, doing the types of things he was portrayed in the movie as doing, it is 99% certain that he would 1) Most likely not have stopped, and 2) The violence/deviant behaviors would have escalated.
