Am I the only one ...

Who doesn't care about the sequel?

I didn't love WIR like the majority of other people did. It isn't a bad movie nby any means, I just thought it was good, not great. Nothing about it screams "sequel" to me. It ended pretty well, so why make another one?

At least movies like HTTYD leave a pretty open ending; it could end there, and you'd be satisfied, but there's still so much to explore. WIR didn't seem like that kind of movie to me, it felt like a stand alone film.

Unpopular opinion: I actually liked Brave more than WIR. Yes, I rated them both 7/10 on here, but I just identified with Brave more. I also liked the characters and animation much more, too.

Sequels are rarely necessary. I don't think Toy Story needed sequel. Still, it got Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3 and there is Toy Story 4 coming. Seems like Pixar makes good sequels - apart from Cars 2. I hope Disney can make good sequels too. We'll see.

I prefer WiR, but I found myself in a similar situation with Zootopia and Finding Dory. I would rate them both a 9/10, but I liked Finding Dory a little more. Still, there is Moana coming this year. I might change opinion :P

If a company can write a good story that's worthy of being a sequel, then I see no real issue of one being made. The Toy Story movies are awesome, and, even though I was initially against TS4 because, IMO, no. 3 ended the story perfectly, it sounds like a genuinely interesting story that is unlike the narrative of the other films. Finding Dory I wasn't against, since Dory is life, and I'm looking forward to seeing it due to it apparently being more about rising above your disabilities (I have ones of my own), and does not try to outshine the original. I haven't seen either of the Cars films yet, so I'll withold judgement.

There's some films that inspire a sequel that belong in the same ranks as the original, like HTTYD 2 was a film that expanded the world, the characters and their arcs, the mythos and more. Shrek 2 added more inventive twists on fairytale satire. I hope there's a Zootrololis sequel, since I liked the main characters so much. At least it seems that WIR 2 is being made because there was a story the creators felt was worthy of telling, and not because it poops money like Ice Age or Frozen (the first and third Ice Age are great, and even though I like Frozen, the second film was announced so damn quickly that it feels a bit more like a cash grab). I'll watch WIR 2 when it comes out, no problem. I'm just not as gaga as major WIR fans :P

(HTTYD 3, on the other hand... hehehe, bring on 2018!)

Many people refer to Toy Story 3's ending as an "excuse" (I'm not sure if that's the right word) to why they don't want a fourth film. Makes me wonder if I was the only one asking for Toy Story 4 right after Toy Story 3. I wanted to see more. Sure, Toy Story 3 ended a big chapter of the story, - the relationship between Andy and his toys - but not the story. After all, the fact that they waited until they found a good story to greenlight the film seems like a good sign to me.

Idk about Frozen 2, seems like the movie spents a lot of time in development, which could mean they are searching for a worthy story... We'll see.

2018 has a lot of sequels, right? TS4, WiR2 and HTTYD3...

Honestly, I think 'Ralph' is one of those movies that screamed for a sequel the most. There was tons of opportunities to explore the video game universe.

Indeed the second one looks like it'll be exploring the modern age of gaming including the Internet.

The brilliance of the Toy Story trilogy is that it always pushed the concept of toys way farther than people most likely expected, especially from a children's franchise. The willingness to explore what happens to a toy when it's owner grows up is pretty ballsy.

What happens when an arcade shuts down due to being obsolete? Where does everyone go? Surely they'll be bitter game characters who blame the modern consoles. War of the different video game versions? Meeting another version of Ralph who IS a legit bad guy? Maybe that explains why other game characters HAVE treated him like garbage in the past.

There is so much untapped potential for a world like this, and I'm eager to see where they take it.
