Passport needed?

On an episode that took us to Minnesota, it was mentioned that a passport is needed for driving to the notch in the upper part of Minnesota. It was mentioned that it was one of the three places in the U.S. where a passport is needed (if a person is traveling by auto). I'm assuming that Alaska is another, but I can't figure out where the third place is. Any clue? Thanks.

The third place is in Washington state. You can't drive to Point Roberts without going through Canada. It's the tiny end of a peninsula that surrounds Boundary Bay south of Vancouver, BC. Point Roberts is much too small to have ferry service.
