Can someone explain the ending? I didn't get the newspaper reference, so I really didn't understand where Legs was. Is she in Cuba? Is she dead? The last scene seemed to suggest that, but without understanding what's going on with the newspaper article, it's hard to follow.
Is this the ending in the book (cause then I can read that for, one would hope, a clearer explanation)

It's a very similar ending to the book.They're both open-ended and you have to make up your own mind as to what you think would of happened to Legs.
The Cantet version is a really good film adaptation, much better than the Angelina Jolie version. You can really see in these 2 films how important it is having a good film director making a film compared to the 90's version which was made by a hack with a bad script. The politics of race, class and sex really come to the fore in the Cantet version, which also makes much more narrative sense and the relationships are much more realistic and believable.
Basically it is to strongly suggested she's alive and now put his Energy into the cuban revolution.
