Morons - spoilers

They do everything stupidly, the problems are moronic, they line up about 6 guys on their knees then start shooting them in the back of the head, while the others just wait til they get shot. All of it is ignorant. Some government guys come to rescue them, but he can't take his wife and kid, so he don't go. Then the wife slaps him.

The wife over acts through the movie.

The U.S. owes so much money to China they have repo-ed the country. They take the guy so he can stop a breach in the backdoor of a program. He does then they bring him back to his house with a hood over his head.

So they decide to go to Mexico...guess they are so poor they don't own China, like that would stop them.... Bad, but the camera action is excellent.

Then they run out of plot, so they just show scenery and play filler music on their drive to Mexico.

The bracelet they wear will kill them if they break curfew, in the end the father is getting ready to cross into mexico the alarm goes off, so he has them cut off his hand. Now the band doesn't explode it sends a signal that creates a burning sensation then kills them. (The father was a microcomputer designer in the NSA but he couldn't figure how to get the bracelet off.

The guy knew he had to get the bracelet off before he could leave the country, so his plan was to bring a chainsaw to cut off his hand....

He had plenty of time (days) on the trip to find a garage, machine shop, to cut it off. A grinder, etc. would have done it. Even if it was indestructible (through some magic), he could have broken some bones in his hand so the bracelet could be slipped off. He could have wrapped it in alfoil to stop it receiving any signals and fixed it in Mexico.

The "backdoors": really, China doesn't have any programmers capable of writing viruses? And they couldn't decode his virus and fix it? And he was able to remove the original virus and insert three more by typing a few lines of code? More magic. But if he HAD done that, they can just compare the code before and after his edits and know exactly what he did, and undo it. Then analyse his edits and make it work right.

Pretty unbelievable how the sheriff, the army, all went Quisling so quickly and immediately.

Why are the Chinese destroying the country? If they want to depopulate it, there are easier and better ways than turning off the water, which would cause a huge uprising, (what has anyone to lose if they're dying of thirst anyway?) and everyone in a rural area has a bunch of firearms.

The well: this farm has the only well in the whole district? Every old farmhouse would have a well. And the well is "broken"? Since there has been a drought, the water table has dropped. You need to dig it deeper, maybe much deeper if it's been dry for a long time. Fixing the pump won't help a dry well.

Anyway, they're surrounded by a forest. You can get leaves, roots and soft branches and cook them in a sealed container, distil the steam they give off. All you need are a few steel drums. Or a still. Plenty of moonshiners and meth cooks in the backwoods would have the equipment.

The potato battery... what a retard. The road has cars stalled all along it. The electronics may be dead but they all have working batteries. Throw away the control circuits if there are any and you have a simple chemical battery.
Or this guy could rip out an old car motor and make a generator, surely. 1920s technology. Or an old bicycle with a generator light, would give you a few watts, enough for a radio.

So, pretty retarded on all fronts, I'm afraid, and excessively jingoistic.

Plot holes for sure, I do agree with you xvzz02

Many of those things could have been solved with a little bit of thinking.

The man told his wife to fill anything that she could, I am sure there were trash cans, plastic bags, cups, bowls, a lot more than one bucket

The guy was just a stupid as a box of rocks, when the aunt was hurting, he should have moved her back in to the yard

He could have been a little bit smarter and looked for some bolt cutters, and with all that knowledge, he should have known it would out put a current.
Plus that device is so small it would not even have enough amps to hurt you.

The movie was great if you skip all of the crap that does not work, and use a bigger budget.
