Any Downers Grove residents out there?

Hi. I'm a lifelong Downers Grove resident and was wondering if there were any other Downers Grove residents out there? This better be filmed in DG! I see they listed Louisiana as a filming location. Since they already changed the plot of the book if they don't even film it in DG I bet no residents will even bother to see it (I know I won't).

Yep I live in DG my whole life. Awsome town! Wonder if it's north or south for the highschool....

@adamjames0486: Interesting...I just assumed it was DGS and that's what the book was based on but maybe not, it could be DGN. DGS was where I went to so that's why. Either way I probably won't see it. I usually don't care for thrillers or horror movies anyway.

Frankster, did you read the book. It wasn't really a thriller/ horror book, so why would the movie be horror/ thriller?

BTW, I live in the town next to Downers Grove.

No I'm doubting that they will even make this as this page hasn't changed one bit in 2 years I think. I'm really hoping they don't make this! It actually makes DG look very bad! I don't think it's too bad of a place... They totally altered the plot and claim that the school takes one students life each year. That's very disgraceful because two students died during my senior year of high school!

And no I haven't read the book but know that it's NOT a horror/thriller plot. That's why I'm mad that the movie will be made into a horror/thriller.

The senior curse was part of the book. It wasn't just added for the movie.

Okay thanks for informing me. But I still find it disgraceful. I wasn't close to any of the students that died during my senior year (at DGS) and I only knew one of the two. But I know many people who were and would probably be very upset when they hear about this movie and the plot. I definitely won't see it in theatres but I might see it on DVD.

When has hurting people's feelings ever stopped movies from being made? The death of a close friend is sad, but if the film makers were worried about offending people there would never be death in any films.

And I just noticed that the page has been updated. They added Tommy O'Reilley to the cast list.

ive lived in dg my whoe life....went to montini though

Not a resident, but I grew up in Glen Ellyn and live in Naperville. I've been just over the town line all my life. I don't think a horror / thriller film would do well to film there - upper middle class isn't that scary... except for some of the rich parents we have to deal with!

Cheers mate!

Is this actually set in Downers? If so which HS...north or south. Of course if there need be a DG high school cursed...let it be NORTH :)

LMAO! I just LOVE high school rivalries. It's so amusing.

Anyway, I just want to know the point of turning a book into a movie which is set in a particular real town, but then refusing to film in or near that town so that the "flavor" of the area can be captured. At least John Hughes movies were filmed in or near the locations they were written about. I recognized so many streets and locations in his films. Nobody seems to do that anymore. It's quite frustrating. I wish Hollywood would get back on the ball and return to the days when they filmed in the locations the story was written about/centered on.

Grew up in DG and now live in Clarendon Hills

I just don't see Downers Grove as being cursed. Now, I think the IKEA in Bolingbrook is on the site of an ancient Native American burial ground, so it's more likely that the 'Brook would be the setting for this. :-)

Wow. Downer's Grove on the movie map. Nice. I lived in Downer's Grove for a couple of years. Right at the corner of Seeley and Chicago Avenues. Walked to school-went to Pierce Downer Elementary. Lived there from 79-81.
