Hollywood Remake

I saw and really enjoyed this little gem.
While not a complete movie( feels like its missing the last 20 or so minutes) the twist is fantastic and a great "gimmick"

I would not be surprised if the remake rights are already sold and we will see the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal/ Michael Fassbender as the maestro and Anne Hathaway/Carey Mulligan/Mia Wasikowska as the girlfriends.

reply

I'd rather say the very first 20 minutes should have went down the editor's room floor.

I don't thing a remake is possible. It could be the same thing but watered down.

I hope Hollywood does Not attempt to remake this movie. It will be screwed up.

Wow! you've got it all figured out.

reply

Well, I'm pretty sure there will be a remake. The story is good and plays to a wide audience.

Expect less to no nudity and an overall worse film though.

reply

True, Summer. Also about the nudity :) too prudish this Americana society of ours ...

I'd like to see Roman Polanski direct a remake. His classic known in the USA as _Kinife in the Water_ (1962) had an exquisitely ambiguous ending in the manner of Frank R. Stockton's 1882 short story, "The Lady or the Tiger?" The ending of this movie is outstanding and there is much else that is outstanding, especially the plot. Polanski would fine tune the rough edges and make this a contender with _Casablanca_ for all-time best movie honors.

reply

Polanski is much too intelligent to be interested for a remake of a new movie. Only hack directors and people without talent make remakes of a movie just released some months ago.

reply

Cameron Crowe remade Abre los ojos into Vanilla Sky, not too long after it was released. Within 3 years. I would hardly call him a hack or say he has no talent. Vanilla Sky was quite well done.

reply

I love Abre los ojos and I could not stand what Crowe did to that excellent film when he remade it into Vanilla Sky.

I'm not a fan of remakes, but if they did an English-language version - it could as easily be British or Anglo-American as a big H'wood production - Fassbender is a no-brainer to play Adrian. He's perfect for the role.
