Terrible narrative!

Oh man oh man, why could the film not find one comfortable time setting and just STICK WITH IT?

We're in Malaysia, then we're in the US, then we're in a combat scenario with Jackie, then we have a flashback, then we have a flashback within a flashback, then a sentimental speech, then a war scene, then a flashback, and then we're back in the US

How the director and the editor did not realize that these kinds of movies are chores to watch is beyond me

I thought it was OK. The relevant activites actually are happening in many places at once. Dr. Sun is traveling around getting money and support. The revolutionaries are fighting in several places with different strategies. The government is trying to fight back in several different ways. People are changing sides or undecided about who if anyone they should side with. I like how the film has some subplots that are very abstract and some that are very detailed and personal.
