Robert screwed up

During the "Edible" episode Robert told the owners that he had NEVER changed a restaurant's name before. Oh, really? I remember an episode from a while back...I can't recall the name of the restaurant right now [and I'm too lazy to look it up], but the owner was an older woman who'd owned it for decades. It was in the northeast as I recall. Robert pushed her to let him change the name, and she finally agreed, and part of the unveiling included the new name on a boat [or with a boat behind it] out front. As I recall, the new name incorporated the old name somehow, but it WAS a name change.

Yes I too remember that...... True

I just looked it up. It was the Flood Tide restaurant in Mystic, CT; Irvine renamed it The Wood Grill at Flood Tide.

That's not a screw-up. The restaurant is still known at the Flood Tide. Everyone calls it the Flood Tide. It's a wood grill...at the Flood Tide!

Ha, ha, I see the point you're making!  But since the name change apparently involved LEGALLY changing its name, I do think it qualifies as a screw-up on Irvine's part.

While watching "Going Down with the Ship" recently, it struck me that not only has Irvine AGAIN made a particular statement, but the previous incident came from the SAME episode I posted this thread about!

In "Going Down with the Ship" he told his crew that he needed to ask for something he'd NEVER requested before: a boat. Um, hello there, Robert? I'm pretty sure you did that before! Remember "Flood Tide?" Yep, I do believe you went looking for a boat to put out front...
