Per a tweet from Robert Irvine, Food Network is not renewing Restaurant: Impossible. Irvine is moving on to host a Dr. Phil-type talk show and the CW, but I bet we'll see plenty of him guesting on various other FN shows—something to which I am not looking forward.

I thought that might have happened, and checked here to be sure, when I noticed last night that he had a show during the day with his name on it. I watched some of it today and it's exactly like the Jerry Springer show and the Steve Wilkos show... totally fake trashy guests, people threatening each other, pushing each other, ridiculous story lines, and very bad acting. Just horrible to watch and totally stupid and nothing like the Dr. Phil show. I'm surprised that RI would do a Jerry Springer type show after Restaurant Impossible was canceled and not anything to do with his cooking expertise. I didn't care for the ambush style that Restaurant Impossible started using this last season or two so I won't be too sad the show is over.
