I thought they were supposed to be gay

From the subway ads I was pretty sure this was kind of a typical cop show, the twist being that the two mismatched partners are also lovers. Is that not the case?

reply

They are not lovers.

Yeah! I mean, it's called "Common Law" ... implying marriage ... and here's these two very unmacho-looking guys in beautiful suits ... and the ad says "it's almost like marriage" or something ... plus USA has some other lesbian cop show .... actually, a gay cop show could be a real cult hit.

reply

What Lesbian cop show does USA have? Unless you mean Diana on White Collar, who is a lesbian character on that show...

Yakko: Why? Did you forget?

reply

I was referring to Rizzoli and Isles (I guess it's actually on TNT).

reply

Rizzoli and Isles are friends but they're not lesbians.

reply

Although they did use that as a gimmick, once, to avoid Isles having to date that moron mechanic.

oops, forgot that one. (blushes) If that was the only episode someone had seen could potentially see how they could think they were gay. They did make a cute couple!;p

reply

I can see how you made that assumption, the ads made it look that way, I wasn't sure at first, either lol.

"Candy CANES?? Are you mocking me?" - Dr. Gregory House

reply

I thought that, too. The guy on the left totally looks like he's checking out the other guy's ass. Or package.

reply

when i first watched them i felt like they are a gay couple .. but the channel knows what sells and most ppl would like to watch .. that's why they are using the gay referencing in the show ..

it sells pretty will on supernatural, it worked once on NIP/TUCK .. and a a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of other shows out there also using it .

"Even if it was ridiculously romantic" - Brian Kinney

reply

Where does it sell on supernatural? They only had a total of two episodes with gay characters.

reply

LOL

I guess you haven't been paying attention to all the fangirls who think Dean and Sam really 'love' each other, or that Dean and Castiel are 'like, totally soulmates!'... They even made an episode that referenced SLASH/'wincest'. Maybe they don't so it on purpose, and yeah, most of the time fans don't really need an excuse to pair people up (I know sometimes I don't, with certain characters), but there's a reason people are fixated on this. I'm not a supernatural watcher/fan, so I couldn't say for sure how obvious this is.

I don't pay attention to fangirls at all, so I had no idea other than the Chuck episode that people are into the idea of SLASH relationship between them.

I just know that I had NO idea that they had a romantic vibe to them, or at least that people perceived it as such.

reply

ive watched every eps so far, and i keep thinking it would be easier to watch if they were gay. because to me there is so much romantic tension between the two characters, i can barely stand it.

and i rarely ever assume people are gay, but those two, and the plotlines it just seems fake when they give them a female romantic interest when there is so much like weird sexual chemistry between the leads.

The show will end with them both being secretly gay and madly in love with each other which is why they have the love/hate relationship.

that would make more sense to me, but i would stop watching it when that happened. like when ellen came out...

its just too much of a switch, like when felicity cut her hair on the WB. they need to either start the show off gay or with short hair not do an entire switch.

i think the show would be better off exploring the gay tension, and one of them ends up gay...like the black guy...and thats why he can't hold a relationship. while the white guy goes back to his wife, realizing that he had an emotional love affair with his partner and that's why he ended up splitting up with his wife.

but then the show would be done after that...

I don't think either one of them seems gay and I'd rather they keep going as they started-two straight guys who have a relationship that's in trouble. I'd like to see them get back on track with each other, but still have them stay straight.
