Might not be renewed?

It was basically asking if Fairly Legal would be renewed, saying it's a 50/50 chance or less to be renewed, but might be since it's a summer show and getting decent ratings there. So the same could be said for Common Law seeing as it's getting right about the same (and sometimes less) ratings the past few weeks, so hopefully since it is a summer show it'll be renewed.

Nothing in that article said anything about Common Law. But as good as it is and the fans seem to love it...I doubt they will cancel it.

I know it wasn't, it was about Fairly Legal, but I meant because they're on the same night and get the same ratings usually, if CL stays the same in ratings it's just that CL could get renewed as well.

That same website shows that Common Law was #10 for cable shows this past Friday night. That does seem promising. I don't think networks expect to get a high number of viewers on Friday nights, since many people go out that night.

That's what DVR's are for....

So true. I don't even remember what nights my shows are on sometimes, because I've gotten so used to having everything recorded for me.

If you read the comments on that TV by the numbers thread you would have seen mine noting Common Law's repeats. It's Friday night repeat usually gets around a 0.4 (18-49 demo) range and it's Monday night repeat gets around the same. For most cable networks repeat airings are an additional revenue stream. The fact that Common Law's repeats get as much as the first run shows means it's probably quite profitable. Fairly legal's repeats don't do nearly that well.

It also shows a lot of people would rather watch at a different time. Perhaps they should find a slot were the maximum number can watch at once.

The ratings are down a bit from the start of the series, but I don't really know what the requirements are for a USA show on Friday nights, as they haven't had a big time show there in awhile. I'm gathering there's no chance that Common Law won't be picked up for a second season, as it's just far too good to get rid of. It's definitely becoming one of the best USA shows, and I think it would be far better matched with Suits. Fairly Legal, on the other hand, has lost a lot of its steam from the first season. Early in the season, I predicted this would probably be its last, but it seems like its ship got righted just enough to where it's not easy to see what its fate will be. It will be nice to find out what the Friday night precedent is, but I'd be really shocked if Common Law doesn't get renewed. It has way too much potential, and as someone else said below, it is repeating pretty well in comparison to its original numbers.

It's funny how viewers expect shows to premiere at the top of the heap from day one, when if that were to happen, the only way for them to go would be DOWN!!! I distinctly remember when Royal Pains first aired people said the same thing--it's slow, corny, too this, that and the next--and now look at it! When White Collar aired it had to garner a following as well, and now look at it.

Just about every show USA aired I can think of had to creep before it "walked" and the same naysayers at the beginning are now it's most loyal followers.
If USA wants to cancel it then fine, they'd be making a BIG MISTAKE. Because if the buzz on this board alone is any indication, CL should be around for a VERY LONG time, so long as they stick with that winning formula--Michael & Warren. Just take a look at the boards of some of USA's "top-rated shows" and you'll notice something weird; they're not getting have the traffic that this, CL's board generates. And this show is still in its infancy. Go figure.

I really don't see them cancelling.

Me either. The good thing is USA is not "trigger happy" when it comes to cancelling their shows.

Yeah, for me, this show is like Monk or Psych territory with potentially a completely endless run (meaning not pulled off the air until the makers want it off the air). I can't see it being canceled until after the second season at the absolute earliest. It's too good, and USA likes good more than it likes big ratings. It's also on a Friday, on cable, which means low ratings expectations, and the ratings for the show are actually pretty decent (though down a little from its first couple of episodes).

This show is actually significantly better than Psych was at this stage of its first season, in my opinion. I think getting more Psych directors involved would only hone it more.
